fruitless living
I am the vine you are the branches, abide in me and I in you and you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing.
Jesus just leaves the temple where the common people recognized Him and declared Hosanna in the highest and the religious leaders could not see past their own agenda. He performs this destructive miracle. The King is hungry and our lives were made to give to Him. Here there is the appearance of fruit because it has leaves but the bush is empty of substance. Oh what a haunting thought of a life spent appealing to men while the King goes hungry. We were meant to give to Him. We were meant to bear fruit. For the religious leaders and those that fall into the same category a withering is commanded. The disciples marveled over the power and missed the meaning. May we not do the same. May we drink deep of the truth of this event. May we search thoroughly the fruit of our lives. May we abide deeply!
