Anointing and Intimacy

In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus lays out the difference between anointing and intimacy. Intimacy is a deep and surrendered relationship with someone, mainly with God. Anointing is the power of God put on your life for the sake of others. In verse 22, people will say "did I not prophesy over others, deliver others of demons, and do things for people in your name?"

Jesus is saying, "Yes, you used my name to do things for others! I love when people are encouraged, delivered, and experience the full gospel on earth. Oh yes, I love those people and therefore, was eager to encounter them. Its you, I don't know. What you would do for people in my name, you wouldn't do for me, the one whose name you seldom know."

Like all things, nothing can ever replace the secret place with Abba Father, with Jesus, or the Holy Spirit. Intimacy is the fuel for ministry.

It is lawlessness to pour everything out for people when the one Heart that matters now and forever goes without. It is a perversion. A deviation from God's intended order of things. His created order.
