Get up you lazy fakers!
I retranslated this verse in an exercise to try and make it easier to grasp.
'Get up lazy fakers, all's not lost, Jesus is here!'
I did this mainly because it had already had a retranslation from it's original position in Isaiah 60:1.
I see 3 conditions here that need to be looked at:
1 Sleeping - Why should we be sleeping while it is still day, we are just being lazy, missing out on prime work time.
2 Dead - How can we rise unless we aren't really dead, so we have a 'self imposed' death, really we're just faking it, so that our 'rouser' will go away and leave us in our sloth!! Faking death is the ultimate in trying to get out of doing our share.
Are we Christians really ignoring the message of the bible to 'go and make disciples of all nations'? Are we doing this by burying our heads in the sands, ignoring the call of God on us?
3. NOT LOST - This 3rd condition is the most important. Where we think we are broken and unusable, God sees potential, where we think we are unsavagable, God will use our past to help others, He has redeemed us!!
When we REFUSE to allow the light of Christ SHINE through us we are rejecting God, His calling and His PLAN for our lives!
We are NOT beyond use for God, that is Satan's LIE!! If you have believed in Jesus then He has BIG plans for you. Listen and hear, look and He will show you.
THIS IS A PROMISE to YOU!!
'Christ WILL shine on you!' Don't be afraid, don't give up, don't give in to sin (that's what the Devil wants!) instead give up your SIN to God's forgiving hands and be FREE, ready to serve with a renewed heart and clean hands!
I'm telling you, I am talking from experience, God can do amazing things with a bowed heart and a surrendered life.
