How God labels me
It is interesting to me how in verse 12, when the angel first greets Gideon he calls him a man of courage, infact the Amplified version of the bible expands this to say a FEARLESS man of courage. yet just a couple of sentences later when Gideon is trying his best to be obedient and tear down his fathers alter to Baal and build a new altar to worship God the bible tells us that Gideon is so FEARFUL that he does this under the cover of night.
This seems like a contridiction does it. Or maybe God told the angel the wrong thing about Gideon. But i dont think that is what is going on here. i think God sees who he created Gideon to be and who with God, Gideon will become and then for Gideons benefit speaks this to him.
Could it be possible that God is doing the very same thing to you and me right now? How do you see yourself right now what do your actions show about you? That you are fearful? disobedient? faithless? sinful? a failure? weak? liar? Even though this might be what your actions speak about you right now, just as they did for Gideon these are not the names by which God refers to you, they are not how God has created you to be and they are definitely not who will will become or stay if you draw near to a holy and righteous and perfect God.
Take some time today to listen to what God calls you, thank him for who has has created you to be...
