"The solid facts about the future hope of Christians are a powerful motivation for constant faith and costly love in the present."

This hope is probably "the heavenly realm already in existence waiting to be enjoyed by believers...(Galatians 4:26)"

This hope, as Paul mentions, is realized group the preaching of the gospel. Thus, the final hope we have in Christ should be included in our gospel preaching. (1:24 & 27 indicate that Epaphras probably preached this to the Colossians.)
