Evil All the Time
It's easy to look at passages like this one and think, "Yes, but what is God's view of evil? Why would He think that EVERY inclination of the human heart was ONLY evil ALL the time? Isn't that kind of harsh?"
Jumping down to Genesis 6:11-13, we gain more of an understanding on God's judgment of this generation of people.
All the people had "corrupted their ways," and the "earth is filled with violence because of them."
Some would argue that God is violent Himself, especially the God of the Old Testament.
Here, we see that His heart was "deeply troubled" at creating humans, because they had become so violent and corrupt.
It's obvious that He dislikes violence.
There's another interesting phrase that we should not discount: "...every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil ALL THE TIME."
God is a God of second chances. He understands the evil inclinations we have, but He gets upset when EVERY inclination is evil.
So, how would you judge our society in this regard?
How would you judge your own heart?
