Waiting for the 'perfect' age-
Scripture: 2 Chronicles 34:1 MSG
Josiah was eight years old when he became king. He ruled for thirty-one years in Jerusalem.
Reflection: When I was ten, I couldn't wait to be a teenager so that I could do what the 'big girls' did. I wanted to go to the mall and the movies with my friends, have sleepovers, etc. Once I became a teenager, I couldn't wait to be 18. At 18 I would finally be a 'grown up' and able to do what I wanted to do. When I finally became 18 I couldn't wait to be 21- then I would REALLY be grown.
As you can see, I spent most of my life waiting to be 'older.' And not for good reasons, looking back-they were selfish reasons. I was waiting and waiting for the 'perfect' age, and that perfect age never came. I'm MUCH older than 21 now.
Josiah didn't wait to be older to become king, he was only 8 years old! And when he turned 16 he began to look for the God of his ancestor David. 16! Most 16 year olds I know are looking for the nearest mall! But not Josiah. He knew at a very young age what God had called him to do, and he didn't wait until he was older to do it.
Are you waiting on the perfect age, perfect time or perfect set of circumstances to fulfill what you know God has called you to do? Read Josiah's story! If he can start his life with God at age 8, imagine what YOU can do at your age!
