This is so important because God is giving Jesus his identity here. "This is my Son". The next thing Jesus does is he goes into the wilderness to be tempted, and the first thing Satan say is "IF your the son of God"

Why would you start a conversation with "if" unless you don't that person or, you don't want that person to believe something.
