Selfish Disciples

These two passages in Mark 9 and 10 are very interesting. Mark is obviously making a point about how clueless and selfish the disciples were.
Twice we see Jesus just finish telling the disciples that he was going to have to die a horrible and humiliating death and the next passages of scripture each time show the disciples selfishly wanting to be the greatest.
Before we judge, we are often clueless disciples as well. We chase money, power, sex and things that have no eternal value. Jesus' point is that humility and sacrifice are what we should value, not power and position.
