"Rabboni"
Jesus said to her, "Mary."
She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, "Rabboni!" (which means "Teacher"). (John 20:16 NIV)
I don't know if there are many times that I think about Jesus as teacher?! At least not in the sense that it would be the first thing I would call my risen Savior.
Sometimes I think I forget that to the disciples and many of his followers and close friends, Jesus was that. Mary had chosen to orient her entire life around the words that literally came out of the mouth if Jesus.
They understood the words on the pages differently. Before they understood Jesus as Savior they understood him as the living God and his words were sacred to them; treasured. They were the first to act out the words of Jesus.
Am I close enough to my Savior that I would cry out "teacher!"? Do I treasure the words and actions of Jesus like Mary did?
Father you are more than my Savior. Help me today to treasure your words as a teacher of the only best way to live. AMEN.
