If we just listened to Jesus

The Father's instruction to Peter, James, and John are often eclipsed by the miraculous event of this passage. But if the Father had any point he wanted Jesus' three disciples to walk away with, it was the point he made: "This is My Beloved Son. Listen to Him!"

The disciples already revered God. Now God affirmed Jesus' was the the One they needed to listen to. If God loves and approves him, he must be worth listening to.

What if we spent more time listening to Jesus, taking quiet moments to hear what he's moving us to hear? What if we refused to take a step forward until we knew it was Jesus telling us to?

This may seem like a horribly introspective way to live, but it's not as much about getting a direct instruction from Jesus for every single action we make, as it is about being in connection with Jesus so that we know what to say and what to do.

How often we try to be like Jesus, wearily striving to live up to His perfection instead of letting Him live through us-so that it is no longer us who lives but Christ from within (Gal 2:20)!!!
