get up and go ... got up and went
God used Philip to begin carrying the gospel to the Samaritans. In Acts 8:26-27, God has a new mission for Philip.
These are some things that God challenged me to be and do through these verses.
vs 26 "But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip..."
- I need to listen to God and do what He says.
vs. 26 "Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza. (This is a desert road.)"
- God's call or mission in my life does not have to make sense to me. (Who am I going to meet and what am I going to do on a desert road?)
- God does not always give all the details of the mission to me at the beginning. He wants obedience.
vs. 27 "So he got up and went ..."
- Obedience on my part leads to greater revelation from God. If I want to know what God wants for tomorrow I need to be obedient to do what has has already revealed for today.
- I need to be willing to step out go where God leads even if it means it will cost me some time and resources. (Philip had to go from Samaria to the road that descends to Gaza ... about a 80 mile journey. It was a four day walk to the desert.)
vs. 27 "... and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candance, queen of the Ethiopians..."
- God can use me on a "desert road" to influence the world. (God can use my "80 mile" obedience to have a "2000 mile" impact.)
Lord I pray that when I hear you say "GET UP AND GO" that my response will be that I "GOT UP AND WENT."
