All Things to All People
This is a very easy concept to follow for the things we like. Even for the things that we don't necessarily LOVE, but are OK with anyway. I like sports. I can becone a baseball player to the baseball player, a footballer to a footballer, and so on and ao forth. Even with the things I'm not a huge fan of, I can still persevere for the sake of winning some. Board games aren't my favorite, but I'll sit down and roll the dice with someone if it may somehow bring them closer to Christ.
But what about the things we hate?
What about those things we can't stand doing or that bore us? What about the things we find weird? Just because it doesn't fit our personality style or likes, does that mean we are exempt from ministering to those who enjoy them? Isn't God, being the creator of everything, also IN everything? Can't he use less honorable vessels to do his will?
So many times I think we miss out on opportunities to spread the gospel because we don't think something is "cool" enough for us to stoop to. Granted, we will never like EVERYTHING there is to do in this world; God creates us with different personalities and likes and dislikes and everything God creates is good. But can't we step out of our comfort zone every so often and into what we think is weird in the hope of using this weird thing to show someone Jesus? There are some people who find those weird things absolutely enthralling. I think all to often I forget that everyone is not just like me, and I don't have everything figured out. So may we all step into the weird, become all things to all people, and win some to Him.
