He was with them
It's important to note the wording: Jesus was numbered with the transgressors, not the other way around. It is a fundamental difference in how the church today is relating to the culture around us. We want the transgressors to want to be counted with Jesus, but He must be taken to them.
In fact, the lack of His presence in our religious services may simply be due to the lack of the people He numbered Himself with, and the fact that we have so quickly forgotten that we were the transgressors He stood with.
