Related Verse in John
John 5:39-40
"You search the Scriptures because you believe they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me so I can give you this eternal life."
Everything we do/think/talk about/meditate on/see needs to focus us towards Jesus Christ. While Scripture sets some hard rules for us to follow at times, we need to make sure we see Jesus through them, or they become meaningless tools.
A major area we often struggle with this is when we're applying our rules (whether Biblical or simply perceived rules) to others. We need to make sure we do it lovingly if it needs to be done. And above all, we need to make sure we're pushing them towards a healthy relationship with the Father and not our perceived image of what a human being should act like.
