Patience vs. Perseverance
I like patience. The King James Version tells us to run the race with patience rather than perseverance. I think that patience is more correct with what Father expects of us. To be patient is to run the race knowing that it is for the best, that it must be done, and that you WILL come out of it. To persevere is more of a negative conotation. Persevering the race is like running the race, hating the race, and, thus, never learning from the race. If you despise the race that FATHER has set out before you then there is no way that you can love the riches, or the prize, that awaits you at the end of your race. (check Rom 2:1-11) And if you despise the race then it is impossible to believe that it sank in when James told us in James 1:2-3 to "2 count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience." It's just my opinion. I know my Father will never put me up against something that He knows that I can't handle. And since I know it, why should I grudgingly go into the next leg of the race expecting a fight when I know that with Father and the patience that I have learned I will always overcome? My reward, my prize is the "crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love Him" (James 1:12)
