Being sorry is not repentance


Esau definitely lamented his decision to sell his birthright, and regretted it even to tears. However, he cast the blame on his brother and failed to accept responsibility for his own selfishness that led him to disrespect his birthright. Esau failed to repent. This is a great verse to use as an illustration that there is a difference between being sorry for what we have done and repenting.
