Too Uzzah Friendly

Being USER FRIENDLY has become our goal-- IN EVERYTHING. It's not just computer software anymore. It's websites, games, instructions, stores... and even CHURCHES have adopted a "user friendly" mentality. And it's good. We don't want to make it hard for people to come to God, or to join our churches, or to live like Christ. However, I think this story is a warning for me that I can not go over board. My God, the one who I call PAPA and come before Him with boldness and confidence, is also the God that I have reverential fear of, the One who judges the whole earth, the One who is holy and I can not see His face because I am not holy.
Uzzah has good intentions. He sees the ARK is about to fall off, so he quickly reacts to stop it from falling. He touches the ARK. And GOD becomes angry and kills him. Uzzah had become too familiar with God.
I don't blame Uzzah completely for failing to treat the HOLY THINGS OF GOD AS HOLY. First off, David failed to transport the ARK correctly. In Exodus 37:5 it instructs that poles are to be slid through the rings on the side of the ARK. The ARK was also suppose to be covered like it says in Number 4:5-6 so no one could gaze at it. (Numbers actually talks about three separate coverings: the covering veil, a covering of badger skin and then a blue cloth). And finally, only certain families were suppose to transport the ARK as stated in Numbers 4:15.
Scary thought that the "user friendliness" of a leader, the failure of a leader to obey God's word, resulted in the death of a well intentioned follower.
So, since everything in the Word of God is in there for a reason, for us to learn from (Romans 15:4 and 1 Corinthians 10:11)-- What do I glean from UZZAH? To treat the things of God as HOLY. To never waiver in my fear of God. To not forget that along with being MERCIFUL, PATIENT and LOVING... my God is also JUST, HOLY and ZEALOUS.
