The disciples' question is different from the last feeding miracle. They want to know how God will be able bless "these" people, the Gentiles. Certainly he cannot perform for them the same miraculous feeding that he was able to do for 5000 of his chosen people. The objection from the Pharisees underlines this question.
Yet Jesus proceeds to pour out a blessing of equal abundance. All are filled and there is still food left over. This group of people are no less blessed than the people of Israel were earlier. God loves the outsiders, the left behind, those without honour; and those closest to him often miss it because of our prejudices.
