'A Certain Man'
This verse has always struck me as odd. When Jesus was calling his Disciples, he did not say 'hey you' but called them by name. He obviously knew who this 'certain man' was, but did not say go to, "so and so with the large unoccupied room". So why the vagueness?
My thoughts are that maybe, just maybe, we can relate to being this 'certain man'. I have had many times when I have helped out people or had been called into service for those who I did not know personally. Many times these situation never led to a personal relationship or even a memory of their names, but I know I was following my father's will (see: http://www.youversion.com/nasb/Matt.25.40).
We are all given these opportunities to serve and when we do we become that 'certain man' who served our Lord.
