oliver - more?

the pharaoh in this story always reminds me of the orphanage boss in this scene. as you watch it, you can't help but think, "what is the big deal?" maybe it wasn't in your plan to give him more (of that nasty crappy food...do you remember how gross it looked in the movie?)...but seriously, how hard would it have been to give the kid a little more? how hard would it have been for pharaoh to give the israelites a couple of days off? after all the reason egypt was even around at all was that the god of israel had used joseph had helped them survive the seven year famine!

so moses and aaron make an unusual request of pharaoh. but instead of being reasonable, the dude flips out. how dare they ask me...and yada yada.

so make of that comparison what you will. a couple of funny things in the video: for one, the line "pick him up and bounce him." haha! pretty good. score one witty point for the old dude. second, notice the phrase that is painted on the back wall of the cafeteria while they're singing about how there going to punish the kid who wanted a little more food. pretty good contrast. maybe they didn't realize how poignant a statement that would be about the modern church...or maybe it was intended to be a statement about the church at the time... whatever. at any rate, it's funny (read as sad...)
