Our Job is to Bless

Observation

It's very clear that God wants us to have good relationships. Whether it be in marriage, family, friends, church, work or society in general. Peter gives the marriage example because it's the closest relationship we can have. Disharmony, disagreement can hinder our prayers, because we against His will when we are in strife. Jesus said we should not even give our offering until we go and make things right with our brother or sister.

He sums all of this up in these verses: Be a blessing! Don't retaliate - love, be humble, sympathize with those who hurt me and have compassion on them. "Hurting people hurt people".

Application

1) Think about how God views these souls who are against me, who are mean and spiteful.

2) Pray for His higher view, from Love's perspective. God is not willing that any perish, but wants all to come to eternal life!

3) Ask Him for help. I cannot do this on my own, but moved by His Spirit I can overcome evil with good...

Prayer

"Lord give me strength to forgive, to bless my enemies, to love the unlovely, to return evil with good and to win the hard-hearted to You through Compassion. Show me who to bless today..."
