How life (kingdom of God) works

Jesus tells them that God’s Kingdom is the way things work in this world. It is the way of life. It is the law that governs life. You can work with it and draw benefit or you can decide to do your own thing and be left with nothing but frustration, time and energy wasted. Our tendency is to try to understand first and then embrace and apply. Jesus says if you are trying to understand first you will not enjoy results (4:27 “though he doesn’t know how” NIV). The key question is not “why” but “what” and “how”. If you just trust the laws of life, the laws of the Kingdom of God and conduct your life according to them not only will you reap great results but you will start to understand it better and gain more insight. The more you surrender to it the more you get out of life, the fuller your life is. The less you trust and surrender to these laws of life, the less of this life will be given to you, the less of it you will enjoy and less insight into its intricate universe (4:24-25).

What is exciting is that Jesus says there is so much more depths to life than what appears (4:31-32). Big things come from small. Appearances deceive. Don’t look for the big, spectacular things in life. The door toward a rewarding life is narrow, small and unimpressive (Matthew 7:13-14). But you trust it and enter it and you will reap/enjoy a great outcome. A great and deeply fulfilling life is made up of lots of small and seemingly insignificant things of our daily routine. Embrace life in its little things and it will lead you to experiences that will blow you away, will leave you speechless, beyond your ability to explain what’s going on.
