Spiritual Blindness

It's unfortunate that like Balaam, we too can loose our spiritual sight. Balaam was esteemed for being a spiritual man. Had he not, I doubt the king would of consulted him. However, sometimes we can be blinded by our own perceived reputation and not see what God is so clearly trying to communicate.
Like Balaam, we can be more stubborn then a donkey and need an ass to tell us we are wrong. There are several lessons to be learned here. However, for me humility is probably the greatest. In Balaam's pride he thought himself right. In spite of the fact that the donkey didn't agree with Balaam's direction, it was the revelation of the donkey's love for his rider that he began to open his eyes to the spiritual realm and change his course.
Sometimes we need to be humble to receive direction from others. Sometimes we need to be willing to be stubborn with our loved ones to help them open their eyes.
