refuge from the storm

Scripture: Isaiah 4:6
… a refuge and a shelter from the storm and rain. (ESV)

Thoughts:
Today there were several storm cells move though which included several tornados touching down in the area. As the worst one was rolling through, I was standing at the back door trying to watch and listen to see if I needed to take cover. I looked down and there were two sparrows sitting on a rail under the bench on my deck. Even as the wind and rain were swirling and the hail was falling, they stayed still under the shelter of the bench. Later in the afternoon, I went outside to get something from my truck and noticed the song birds were singing again. Call me crazy, but their song seemed brighter…louder…more joyful…more urgent. It was almost like they were celebrating.

No matter what storm you face, remember that He is your shelter and even if it seems hopeless, the storm will pass. The question is not whether or not a storm will come. The question is whether you will be singing when it is over.

Prayer
Mighty God, help me to remember that you are bigger than any storm I could face and to tell the world how you brought me through.

Your brother in Christ,

Doug
