Ephesus literally means: to abandon. It's a harbortown in the west of Turkey. It stands for the first period in the history of the church, the years 70-170. It's the second generation that has lost (or read: abandon ;)) love. The first generation of the apostles was over, and the fall of Jerusalem had just come.
