Job 31 – TWEAKING YOUR SOCIAL NETWORKING! - Part 2
It needed TWEAKING; fine-tuning or adjusting it’s system, and like I have already said, that was beyond me. Small but essential modifications were made however and the problems were resolved. They made all the difference.
That’s what I am talking about. That’s what I need for my life! TWEAKING! Not in the obsessive compulsive way or by using drugs. But in terms of fine tuning my life. Job is a perfect example. Here’s some more ways Job lives his life as God intends even though going through a bad time physically. He allows God to tweak…
4. HIS SOCIAL NETWORK (Job 31:31-37)
This has to do with tweaking the HOSPITALITY application. I need to be careful as to who I allow to speak into my life but hospitality is important. Even Jobs Social Network of friends are bullies. Nevertheless, Job always opens his door to strangers and travellers and feeds them. He says in Job 31:32 (NLT) "I have never turned away a stranger but have opened my doors to everyone.” Hospitality to strangers. Fraught with dangers in the modern world, but Hebrews 13:2 (NASB) says "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." 1 Peter 4:9 (NLT) says "Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay." When my home is regarded as God’s property, then I will use it as He would have me use it.
Job’s social network included servants who worked for him but he treated them fairly and with equality. He says “For God created both me and my servants. He created us both in the womb.” (Job 31:15) Leviticus 19:15 (NLT) says “Do not twist justice in legal matters by favouring the poor or being partial to the rich and powerful. Always judge people fairly." Is the maintenance man treated as equally as the manager? What about people I find difficult to handle? I will need COURAGE tweaked also.
5. HIS ONLINE TRANSACTIONS (Job 31:5-8, 16-28)
This has to do with tweaking the HONESTY application. Job 31:5 (NLT) says “Have I lied to anyone or deceived anyone? Am I willing to let God tweak the Honesty app. of my life? He doesn’t want me running on pirated software. He wants my life to be GENUINE.
Then there’s the GENEROSITY application. Job is not MATERIALISTIC or GREEDY (Job 31:24) In Luke 12: 21 (NLT) Jesus echoes Job’s words by saying “a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
The best way to get rid of greed is to have your generosity tweaked. Proverbs 21:26 (NLT) says "Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!" Job asks “Have I refused to help the poor, or crushed the hopes of widows?” Have I been stingy with my food and refused to share it with orphans? No, from childhood I have cared for orphans like a father, and all my life I have cared for widows.” (Job 31:16,18 NLT). Am I willing to go out of my way to help the needy? Does my generosity need tweaking? That will demand fairness and equality.
Fortunately I know someone who is an expert with a tweaking wrench. I went to Him this morning with Hope and a Prayer. He used a built-in means of ADJUSTMENT, a specific piece of software in my life which specialises in tweaking, OPTIMIZING and CLEANING the whole system. He ACTIVATED all the hidden settings and MAXIMISED them. He ENHANCED my overall spiritual performance. He knows what I need when I don’t. He “PUT OUT THE TRASH”. He turned off and removed unused and unnecessary apps. The invitation is to allow Him to reveal my life’s true POTENTIAL as well as empower me when I am experiencing an attack. Holy Spirit tweaking is activated by prayer. I recommend using it every day. I know I need the filling of the Holy Spirit every day (Ephesians 5:18).
