Jesus teaching strategy

Mark gives us in 4:34 a clear picture of the way Jesus taught. Jesus used parables not so much to explain the truth (in a sort of propositional and systematic way), but to stir interest. Those, really in a quest for truth, who want to find out more, would “follow” Jesus (not necessarily committing all the way, as we see in an instance where some of his followers decided this is not for them - John 6:66) and ask more questions. To these He would then explain the truth. [Even to those interested, He explained the truth layer after layer, in time. The more they were willing to follow, the more He exposed of the truth and the more they were getting it].

There’s something about the nature of truth that it becomes more accessible where there’s interest. On its outer layer there’s more ambiguity, more confusion than clarity. But under each layer, so to say, there’s a little more clarity and little less confusion. Jesus approach with people reflects very closely this reality.
