Prosperity is a concept that is viewed differently by the world system and the Kingdom of God. In the world, the mission for prosperity is "Get all you can, Can all you get, and sit on the Can"! However, for God and his family, prosperity means something totally different. In fact, there are people who have been and are held bound by the deception that God doesn't want the church to prosper. Ignorance is the breeding ground for bondage and destruction, and the cure for this disorder is the Knowledge of God's Word (Hosea 4:6, Isaiah 5:13, Proverbs 11:9, Daniel 11:32).
When God gave up his son for the salvation of man (men and women), he freely gave all things with him (Romans 8:32)! Through his divine power, he gave us all things needed for life and godliness and made us a partaker of his divine nature (2 Peter 1:3-4). In Christ Jesus, he has blessed us (empowered us to propser) with all spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3)! With that being said, it is important to understand that all things from God constitute the essence of Abundance. Abundance is God's idea and God's ideal, which he provided us with through his life (John 10:10). Your prosperity in all things and aspects of your life (Spirit, Soul, and Body) is his desire (3 John 1:2)! For this reason, God is not against you having things, but is against things having you (controlling or mastering you). As offsprings of the Father (Acts 17:28-29), we don't use people to get things, but use things to love and bless people. Prosperity is about God, but it involves and it's expressed through you (Deuteronomy 8:18). God's purpose of the blessing is for us to be a blessing (Genesis 12-2-3).
When God gives you abundance, it's because he has other people in mind!
Your work (job) has not been established to provide you with your prosperity as a believer! In the kingdom of God, your occupation and career does not determine your success! Simply put, you don't work for a living, but for a giving (Ephesians 4:28, 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12). Your work is not your source or to sustain you, but to give you an opportunity to bless others. What you get from your job should be used as a seed to bless others, which God uses to connect you with his umlimited supply of provision. God himself is your source and his supply comes to you when you seek him and place him first (Matthew 6:33, Luke 12:31)! Through our offerings, Tithes, and gifts to others, we honor God as our source and express our love for him, which positions us to receive the manifestation of the blessing in our lives. When we approach our occupations with this mindset, the blessing will make you rich through your investment in God's way of operation (Proverbs 10:22). God never gives you things to love, but things to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17-19, Ecclesiastes 5:19-20). God's will for you is to love and trust him, but enjoy what he gives you! When you love things, you start to trust them and place them above the Father God, which leads to all evil, destruction, and perdition (1 Timothy 6:9-10, Ecclesiastes 5:10, Proverbs 23:4-5). Prosperity without God as its source and focus will destroy its possessor (Proverbs 1:32, Psalm 37:7-21, Psalm 73:3-26, Job 31:24-28)!
Our responsibility is to seek God's kingdom and his righteousness and then things will be added to us by God! In other words, things seek those that seek God and his kingdom. God wants us whole, complete, and full, so that he can establish his covenant in the earth. The reign and influence of Jesus through the gospel can only spread as far as the prosperity of the church (Zechariah 1:17, Ecclesiastes 7:12, Ecclesiastes 9:13-18, Deuteronomy 8:18)! God gives us the power to get the wealth to do this. If this was wrong, God would be a culprit and violator of his own word and system. Glory to God, it is not wrong, but the way to live as citizens of the kingdom!
One word that is used to describe prosperity in the bible is peace. The word peace in the Hebrew is Shalom (Judges 6:24), which means completeness, wholeness, welfare, health, rest, wellness and preservation. It also means nothing lacking, nothing missing, and nothing broken! Today, Jesus is our peace (Ephesians 2:14). He is our completeness in all things (Colossians 2:10) and from him comes perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). He is described as the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). God wants us to live and operate in peace so that he can establish his convenant on the earth in lives through Jesus Christ! When we prosper, it is to the pleasure of the Father God (Psalm 35:27). He is committed to loading us with benefits on a daily basis (Psalm 68:19). The Father has caused us to come to a wealthy place in Jesus and expects us to walk in it (Psalm 66:12, Psalm 16:8, Psalm 118:5, Psalm 18:19, 2 Samuel 22:20).
Though God wants you to prosper, it is your responsibility to walk in it and experience it. God told Joshua that he will make his way prosperous and have good success when he spoke the word continually, meditated in the word, and do the word (Joshua 1:8). Therefore, your success or failure is your decision and determination! You make the difference between your experience of prosperity or the lack of it. The appearance of your progress to all is determined by your commitment to God's Word through meditation and action (1 Timothy 4:15, Psalm 1:1-3, James 1:22-25 Acts 20:32)! No matter where you are in live or what is going on, always recognize that you are loaded with everything you need to excel and be committed to doing your part in God's word to manifest your prosperity in Christ Jesus.
