compulsions
too often i let this verse give me a way out. it says that there is self interest sin in all of us so it must be OK. But it is not OK. it is sin. then th erest of the verse goes on to say that you cannot live both lives. so if i let sin in a little, how can i live by the spirit? I can't. God is very black and white on some things and this is one of them.
The only way to overcome the self-interest way is to starve it and live onyl by the spirit. don't feed your appetites lazniess, gluttony, pornography, tantrums. starve yourself of these things and that hunger will die. You only crave what you eat. i don't crave chocolate covered ants because i have never tried them. you don't crave sin if you never try it. but we do have to stave those we have tried. get them out. Make War against them.
