Basic Greek

There are two common words in Greek for poor.

Penes- The common working man who lives paycheck to paycheck. This person has no luxury or anything superfluous. All he has is the roof over his head and food on the table.

ptochos - beggars who are completely destitute (this is the word used here for poor). This word is much stronger than the prior.
- Pitiable, Plato talked about sending all the ptochos out of the state. They weren't desires or allowed
- It would be hard to call an ancient Greek person something lower or more humiliating than ptochos
-Theses people were the beggars and destitute. They had absolutely nothing
