Why I Tithe

Tithing on a weekly basis is a huge way of reminding myself of how God has given to me. It is a reminder. It is a demonstration and act of showing thanks. It is a model to my kids.

If I don't give, I am essentially declaring that I don't remember or I am not thinking of what God has given me.

Just a gut feeling but I don't think most people...including Christians...even think about what God has given them. The thought doesn't even cross their mind. I don't think it is an intentional denial or "non-thinking" of God, it is the natural outcome of our sinful nature that leans away from anything of God.

I have to be intentional about giving. I have to be intentional about thinking and remembering all God has given and done for me. It does not come natural.

And giving without sacrifice is easy. If I am going to remember in a way that changes my life, I must sacrificially give.

If sacrificial giving is a tangible act of remembering what God has given me. What does it mean when I don't give? The answer is one that I nor others really want to admit.
