Jerusalem or Galilee

...most responses to this discrepancy of locations between Luke/Acts and Matt/Mark indicate that it is a "both and" event. But, it seems odd there would need to be 2 very similar events in two locations. If I was a disciple I'd be like..."didn't we just do this the other day"?
