brother in trouble...
Interesting these two verses are back to back.... One says "help a brother in trouble" the other says not to promise to pay a neighbors debt... How often a brother uses verse 16 when in trouble for money owed.... but does not read the following verse chapter 17. Helping a brother does not automatically mean help monetarily... but you feel bad when you can't. This spoke to me because it seems the same people continue to come back asking for money... now I realize it's not my obligation to 'always' oblige.... pray about other ways otherwise I may be enabling them.
