The Feared Israelites
The Moabites were so scared of the thought of the Israelites coming to destroy them on their path to the promise land; that they joined forces with another tribe. The Ironic thing about it is that because of their alliance with the other tribe, the Moabites set themselves up for their destruction.
Balak wanted to save his people, but he actually led them to their doom. (Moses was simply going to pass through as he had tried to do with Sihon and Og)
