God knows...

“Stop acting so proud and haughty! Don’t speak with such arrogance! For the Lord is a God who knows what you have done; he will judge your actions." (1 Sam 2:3 NLT)

I see 2 sides to this verse... firstly it speaks to those who openly flaunt their actions... in pride, haughtiness and arrogance. Secondly and subtly, it speaks to those who act proudly but hide the darkness within. Let me explain...

1) As I look around our world today, I see a world that has forgotten God. We live lifestyles that declare to those around that "God is dead". "See what I can do with my own hands... I don't need God". I am reminded of the day of judgment coming for everyone where we have to stand before our Maker to give an account of our life. We cannot hide. God knows what we have done and he will judge our actions. Will we be able to stand on our own without Christ?

2) How easy it is for us to hide behind our "masks" - to hide the darkness within. How easy it is for us to forget that God is God. He can see right into our soul. There is nothing we can hide from him (Prov 15:11; 1 Sam 16:7). In our sinfulness, we must react in repentance by coming to Jesus for healing... before it is too late.
