Repentance Doesn't Fix Everything
This verse is a good example of action and consequence, sowing and reaping. "Do not be deceived... Whatever a man sows, that also shall he reap". It seems like a lot of people - I have been among them - have a tendency to think that if they are lax on seeking God and His Kingdom for a while, all they will have to do is repent at some point and everything is good again, as if the lapse never happened. There is truth to this, in that our relationship with God can be restored; but it is foolish to think that nothing will have been lost. If you neglect to plow, and sow, and water for a season, repenting of your poor choices in harvest time will not magically produce a harvest for you; repentance just means you realize you were an idiot last season, and you will be sure to do what you need to do this season! So it is in the things of the Spirit.
