Actions Speak Louder Than Words
James 2:20 " Faith without works is dead"
How true is that. Honestly? How many people out there do you see who claim they are a Christian, just because they go to church on Sunday or whatever example you want to use. It's said that over 80% of Americans are Christians- in that case, what is happening in our society? What is happening in the schools and in the community? Our actions, as it is said, speaks louder than our words. One can easily say he is a Christ-follower, but his actions will be what truly shines through all of what he says.
In v19, James even says, " the devils also believe, and tremble" (KJV). It's not enough to just believe. We must prove that by our works, we must show our love for our Lord and Creator.
In Titus, it says something similar: Titus 1:16:
" They profess that they know God; but in works they deny Him..."
If you read it in context, Titus 1 is mainly about appointing elders of the churches and whatnot. v10-16 hit hard on what needed to be changed- the lives of the Cretans. The society of "believers".
" They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him"
Many of the people in Crete were people like this [ Titus 1:16]. That still stands today, even in the church, as it was back then. Often we can find leaders in a church who deny Christ in their actions. What type of image does that set for the rest of us who truly follow Christ?
