Giving is a Big Deal to God

Why all the strict and detailed instructions for the O.T. offerings? Why the hoopla surrounding the how's, when's, where's, etc.?

Because to God, offerings are a big deal. Giving an offering is not something to take lightly. They are to be given with thought, intention, acknowledgement of who it is for and why it is being given. They are not to be easy. They are to be a sacrifice. A sacrifice that makes a definitive impact on my conscience and thought process.

This is a major challenge to me personally because we give through the bank's bill pay feature which means we don't actually write out a check each week, it is just automatically sent from the bank to Meadow. It is easy for me to not think about it thus it is not a big deal to me.

What I need to do is when I get that email from the bank saying the check has been cut and sent, before I delete that email, I need to pause and spend - even if its a few moments - time in prayer, thanksgiving, and acknowledgement of who it is for and why it is being given.

Giving is a big deal to God. Is it a big deal to me?
