Criticism
Early on, the Bible gives us an important lesson on how to deal with criticism.
The story is fairly well-known; the first recorded murder still elicits gasps. But when we look back and see how Cain reacted to being chastised, we can almost see how the resentment exploded into violent rage and jealousy.
Cain didn't ignore God's correction. He allowed it to create evil feelings.
The lesson is clear. When we receive criticism, we can take it, and make changes... or we can allow ourselves to wallow in anger that prevents us from improving at all.
