God requires of those He is preparing for leadership to cast down to the ground whatever they have "leaned" on over the years. In Moses' case, the walking stick or staff was a necessary tool to shepherd sheep.

But even that necessity is useless unless we give it to God so that He can either discard it for a better thing OR so that He can transform it for His glory.

Either way, it's all goodfor the glory of God and the redemption of humanity.
