Upon reading this, my understanding is that, faith itself in our God, is the one thing that connects us directly to Him...

In the time of Abraham, there was no Law that dictated what he needed to do to get closer to God, Moses didn't come into existence for a LONG time! There was nothing but his faith, and God's promises. Abraham had no word of God to stand on, just his own genuine faith.

God called it righteousness, because Abraham stuck by what He said. God said this, and Abraham believed Him, God commanded this, and Abraham obeyed...

If any of us needs lessons in faith, we need to remember Abraham, the father of it!
