First Called Christians
Chris Tomlin points out this scripture in the foreword of Francis Chan's new book "Crazy Love". It prompted me to do some research. I looked up the definition of the word Christian and it had several meanings. I think a lot of them have developed over the years and it has really watered it down to mean simply a member of a church. But I was a member of a church for a long time without following Christ. But one of the definitions really strikes me. A person who exemplifies in his or her life the teachings of Jesus Christ. How can we do this. If I polled my office today to give one word to describe me, what percent would say Christian? I would hear good guy, nice, honest, funny, and numerous other words, but who would say christian, or Christ follower? I don't know and that really opens my eyes and scares the living heck out me.
