Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want tTherefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.• IMMANUEL MEANS—GOD WITH US.o Immanuel entered the world through a “no entry”: The Virgin Womb.o Immanuel exited the world through a “no exit”: The Empty Tomb.GOD WITH US1) IMMANUEL COMFORTS THE AFFLICTED.Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles…As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.2) IMMANUEL AFFLICTS THE COMFORTABLE.Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
