There's a lot of talk about hearty meals here

At least 6 times in this chapter "hearty meal" is mentioned. Either this family watched a lot of iron chef or they had a food addiction. Either way, it's fascinating to me the talk about FOOD so much here.

I also wonder how Rebekah had time to clean up the kitchen before Esau came back. Didn't he notice somebody had just cooked a "hearty meal" when he got back from the hunt? I'd notice if somebody had just finished using the kitchen before me.

Besides the food theme, I've got othere takeaways here:

* Sometimes people you trust lead you astray.
* Even faithful God-fearing people make bad choices and have really awful thoughts of revenge.
* If you keep your eyes on God, in spite of your circumstances (after the pity party we all experience when bad things happen), He'll help us get back on track. He won't let us hold onto bitterness if we let Him help and He'll continue to use us in spite of the stupid, selfish choices we've made in the past.
* Each day is new.
* We all have experience as the perpetrator and the victim. What are we going to do with it?
