this is interesting to me because paul immediately goes from describing an athlete to a farmer. an odd transition to me. however, verse six conjures up the image of berry farmer. i have no connection to this except that i remember picking strawberries. i can remember eating the strawberries ever so often instead of putting them in the pale. as good as that was, i'm sure the person who owned the farm had already done the same thing. paul is telling timothy, that he sees his discipline. it will pay off.
