The word of God

The "word of God" they received must have been something different from the Bible no? This would seem to indicate that their proclamation of the "gospel of God" (v9), which reads as a verbal proclamation since they were there working , is also "the" word of God.

This might need to be one of those areas that require a master in ancient Greek to make it fit with the current understanding that the Bible is "the" word of God, but reading it plainly seems to indicate that any proclamation of "the gospel of God" fits the bill. The "the" wouldn't be as exclusive in this case.
