Submission... The Nuclear Option

- What is submission… For those of you that have ever done any amateur WWE (WWF when I was a kid) wrestling in your living room, you know what a “submission hold” is. Its when you give up and say “uncle” because your cousin is choking you… Submission is basically just saying “uncle.”

- This whole passage starts with everyone submitting to one another. If we do verse 21, we almost never have to go through the marriage submission stuff mentioned in the later verses.

- Using “please submit” should be seen as the nuclear option. Like the President with the codes in that special briefcase, it should only be used as the last resort. (and smart Presidents and husbands would never use it because of the complete destruction that is left behind after you hit the big red button… The fallout lingers for decades to come)

- How do we submit to the Lord? That should be how wives submit to husbands.

- Husbands should lead the family like Christ does the church. Jesus leads by example, not like some sort of musselini-esque dictator. If husbands lead well, I have seen that most wives have no problem submitting.
