Are You Coming?
I've got some little kids in my house and sometimes I'll call and ask them to come to wherever I might be. Sometimes I'll ask for help with something - carrying groceries, setting the table, putting stuff away. And sometimes I just want them to be near and take a break - watch a movie, have a popsicle, sit in my lap. Doesn't Jesus do the same thing with us? Sometimes He calls us to come after Him, to take up our cross and follow Him, to work. But other times He calls us simply to come to Him and rest, take a break, lay at His feet and let Him work. I know for me, I often miss out on the rest and refreshment of letting Jesus work because I won't stop or I fail to recognize that He's calling me not to do more, or finish what I think is so important, no, He's calling me to rest in His presence and protection. So the next time you're tired and Jesus calls, will you come AND REST?
