Yes Lord!
I love this response from Mary in Luke 1:38. After a brief clarifier in verse 34, she quickly (and astonishingly) submits to God's plan for her life, despite the incredible consequences it meant for her personally.
It reminds me of another woman (in Mark 7:28) who had a similar response to Jesus, despite being told "No" initially, followed by being called a "dog" in no uncertain terms! Her response (without even a moment's hesitation) was "Yes Lord" - showing that she not only understood what he meant by speaking figuratively (something the disciples often missed) but that she knew she could trust Him to show mercy, regardless how bad things looked on the surface.
Jesus clearly delights in responses like these, because they say so much about His goodness and His trustworthiness. Today each one of us (in small and big ways) will have an opportunity to say "Yes Lord!" or "No way!" or "Yeah, but..." in response to His revealed will for our lives. Will our response bring His heart joy today? I hope so! Lord please help it to be so.
